Praia de Santa Bárbara, Sao Miguel - Azores Islands (Wednesday, September 4, 2013) - Waves in the 2-3Ft range welcomed surfers and organizers this morning on the beautiful north coast of Sao Miguel island. With eight heats remaining in the opening round of competition, the SATA Airlines Azores Pro has been called back ON with a 7:45am Start local time.
"Today conditions are a little bit better than we thought," Iain Buchanan, ASP Europe's head judge said. "The swell was going to drop overnight but it's still hanging in. With the low tide at the moment it's quite peaky with two or three different spots the guys can surf so we're going to try and finish this round. We'll be monitoring what the incoming tide does, and assess for the afternoon. Speaking with the surfers from the first two heats, everyone's keen to go !"
